Road tourist signs
Proper and good road signage is one of the basic elements of road safety. Regardless of the content and form, as well as the type of signs erected depends on their effectiveness as an element of information activities, which in turn is an element of the image (of the state, region, province, district, municipality…) as a tourist product. Hence, information about tourist attractions should be one of the important elements of the promotional policy of the state and region. Lubuskie Chapter of Road Tourist Signs
The Lubuskie Chapter of Road Tourist Signs was established by resolution of the Board of Directors of the Lubuskie Regional Tourist Organization “LOTUR” No. 1/I/2009 on January 30, 2009.
The basis for the establishment of the Chapter is the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure of July 3, 2003. Journal of Laws No. 220 item 2181 and its appendices, which indicates that the Regional Chapter is the body giving opinions and recommending the location of tourist road signs.
The purpose of the Chapter is to ensure that tourist attractions and routes in the Lubuskie region are marked in a uniform way, in accordance with current regulations.
Scope of the Chapter:
- To give an opinion on the selection of sites for signage
- Giving an opinion on the graphic design of signs
- To give an opinion on the design of tourist vehicle routes
- Developing guidelines for the location of different types of tourist road signs
The tasks of the Chapter include, in particular:
- Participation in the work of the Chapter of the Polish Tourist Organization
- Requesting to the Chapter of the Polish Tourist Organization to qualify and approve tourist attractions / from the UNESCO list, national parks, other important attractions of international and national importance/ from the Lubuskie Voivodeship, in agreement with the Marshal’s Office of the Lubuskie Voivodeship, to be marked with tourist road signs on highways and expressways and on national roads, in agreement with the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways,
- Applying to the Chapter of the Polish Tourist Organization and qualifying and approving tourist attractions /attractions of international and national importance and attractions of provincial importance/ from the Lubuskie Voivodeship to be marked with road tourist signs on provincial roads, in coordination with the Regional Roads Administration,
- Qualifying and approving tourist attractions /attractions of national, provincial and local significance/ from the Lubuskie region, upon the request of the Local Tourist Organization, the locally competent PTTK Branch or the locally competent local government, for marking with tourist road signs on municipal, district and commune roads, in agreement with the managements of these roads
- Maintaining constant contact with related institutions and associations at home and abroad,
- Creating programs for the location of new road tourist signs and raising funds for their implementation,
- Lobbying of undertakings of a formal and legal nature in all decision-making institutions regarding the establishment of road tourist signs in the region,
- Carrying out promotion for the location of road tourist signs in the region.
Mode of work of the Chapter:
- The members of the Chapter shall elect from among themselves a Chapter President. The election is carried out by voting, by simple majority in an open ballot
- Chapter meetings shall be convened by the Chairman upon receipt of an application for an opinion. In emergency cases, the right to convene the Chapter is vested in the President of the Lubuskie Regional Tourist Organization.
- The Chapter members determine the content of the opinion on the submitted application
- Organizational matters, including keeping documentation of the Chapter’s work is conducted by the Lubuskie Regional Tourist Organization office
- The LOTUR Office presents the LOTUR Board with current information on the status of the Chapter’s work
- Establishment and dissolution of the Chapter, as well as appointment and dismissal of the Chapter members, and extension of the scope of the Chapter’s activities are effected by way of resolution of the LOTUR Board
