“automobile tourist trail” indicates the beginning of a designated automobile tourist trail; the sign, next to the name of the trail, may include the symbol of the trail and the symbol of the tourist organization marking the trail – sign E-22a

“facility on a motorized tourist route” indicates a tourist facility on a motorized tourist route; the symbol of a tourist or leisure facility is placed on the sign – sign E-22b

§ Paragraph 11 of the above regulation states:
Traffic organization, in particular the technical tasks of placing and maintaining traffic signs, traffic light devices, sound signaling devices and traffic safety devices shall be carried out by the road administration at its own expense. This does not apply to the placement and maintenance:
……………………
4) signs marking hiking trails and additional bicycle trail signs – these tasks are carried out by the tourist organizations concerned;
Accordingly, signs marking hiking trails E-22a are erected and maintained by the relevant tourist organizations. However, the other tourist signs, i.e. E-22b and E-22c, are signs whose erection and maintenance is at the expense of the road manager.
III Principles of qualification and approval of tourist attractions for marking
According to the opinion of the General Directorate of National Roads and Highways, the automobile tourist route /mark E-22a/ should not run along highways and expressways.
From the appendices to the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure of July 3, 2003, it follows that the projects of signs for automobile tourist routes are reviewed by the chapter of the relevant tourist organization. Below are proposed rules for qualifying and approving attractions for signage.
Rules for qualifying attractions for signage along roads
highways and expressways
– from the UNESCO list
– national parks
– other important of international and national importance, after agreement with the marshal’s office and opinion of the ROT
We put signs no further than 40 km from the object – application: the Regional Tourist Organization (ROT)
Rules for approving attractions for signage
– Chapter at the Polish Tourist Organization (PTO) (representatives of the PTO, PTTK, General Directorate for Roads and Motorways and ROTs movable depending on the region from which the application was received)
permit – General Directorate of National Roads and Highways (GDDKiA)
other national roads:
– from the UNESCO list
– national parks
– other important of international and national importance, after agreement with the Marshal’s Office and opinion of the ROT

Rules for approval of attractions for signage
– chapter at the Regional Tourist Organization
permission – General Directorate of National Roads and Highways (GDDKiA)
provincial roads:
– attractions of international and national importance
– attractions of provincial importance
signs are placed no further than 20 km from the object – application: Regional Tourist Organization (ROT)
Rules for approving attractions for signage

permission from the Provincial Road Administration
city, county and municipal roads:
– :attractions of national, provincial and local importance
signs put no further than 15 km/10 km from the object – application: Local Tourist Organization (LOT)
Rules for approving attractions for signage

permission of the Board of City Roads, the Board of County Roads
alternate powers:
– in the absence of a ROT, the relevant provincial government takes its place
– if there is no LOT, the locally competent branch of PTTK takes its place, and if there is no LOT, the locally competent local government takes its place
